July 2022 Book Roundup
Summer always allows me to read more than I usually can during the school year. Days are less hectic and move at a slower place. July was no exception and with a vacation thrown in there I read a stack of new books. Thank you #bookstagram. I would rate all of these a 4 to 5 star, they were all very good, in fact some I finished in one day! Stay tuned for my August Round Up.
Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover
With over 99,000 reviews on Amazon this Colleen Hooever novel is a favorite. Kenna is a troubled young mother who is looking for a second chance and a shot at redemption. I read this one in ONE day because it is a story of love, loss, grief, forgiveness and ultimately love again. I rooted for Kenna as Colleen Hoover has a fantastic way of putting you in the shoes of her characters. If you are looking for a book to read on vacation or where you will have no interruption ( ha ha) I promise you can read this one in one sitting!
Every Summer After by Carly Fortune
Hands down my favorite book I have read in a very long time. The perfect summer read. The story is told over the course of six summers and is about a friends to lovers second chance romance, This book gives you all the feels and you will not want to put it down or want it to end. Absolute perfection, please NETFLIX pick this one up!
Someone we know by Shari Lapena
Good quick read by the author who wrote The Couple Next Door. This is my third book by this author and while the premise held my attention, the characters did not as much as her other books. The story is about a neighboorhood that holds many secrets and when a women down the street is found murdered how far will these people go to protect their families and thier own secrets. It definitely keeps you guessing until the end!
The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley
Brought to you by the author of the Guest List, Lucy Foley once again delivers a must read. Similar to the Guest List, the plot focuses around a whodunnit and is told from multiple perspectives. There were many twists and turns and each quick chapter left you in suspense. Another quick read I highly recommend.
It Ends with Us by Collen Hoover
If you haven’t heard of this book by now you must not be on Book-Tok! Everyone has been reviewing this one lately and I have to say there are mixed reviews. Colleen Hoover is a fan favorite and this one usually ranks in people's top 5. I am no different, I loved this book and honestly cried at the end. It is a powerful, heartwrenching story that does cover the difficult topic of domestic abuse. ( Spoiler warning if this is not something you feel you can read). The book is complex and does a good job showing the reality of human nature. My recommendation: read it and then give it to your mom, sister and friend and neighbor next door!
P.S. The much anticipated sequel: It Starts with Us comes out in October. You can Pre-order on Amazon.
